The Iranian Navy has unveiled its first indigenously built mobile simulators for its Tareq-class submarines.

According to Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, the simulator has a three-degree freedom of movement and is used during diving and ascending, as well as checking for damage.

About 16 scenarios have been designed and programmed for the simulator for use in the subsurface brigade of the first naval zone.

Iran possesses more than 800 home-made simulators, which have been put into operation by the its defence ministry, according to Fars News Agency.

Sayyari hopes that new simulators would also be built for Qadir-class submarines by the end of March 2011.
