Saab has received an additional order from Lockheed to further enhance the Sea Giraffe 150 HC 2D radar on the Canadian Navy’s Halifax-class frigates.

The additional SEK108m ($15.4m) order will provide the vessels with the ability to detect and track low radar cross section targets above water.

The modified Sea Giraffe 150 HC will increase performance in high-clutter environments such as littorals, as well as align the radar to the latest generation of Sea Giraffe AMBs.

The radar upgrade is part of a larger combat systems integration contract, awarded to Lockheed Martin Canada in 2008.
