Best Management Practices to Deter Piracy in the Gulf of Aden and Off the Coast of Somalia
23 August 2010This report highlights best management practices (BMP) that are supported by 11 international industry agencies, aiming to assist companies in avoiding piracy attacks, deterring attacks and delaying successful attacks in the Gulf of Aden (GoA) and off the coast of Somalia.
The paper also focuses on immediate operational measures to prevent, disrupt, and punish acts of Somali piracy organizations, and is intended to respond to the growing threat and to be mutually supportive of longer-term initiatives aimed at establishing governance, rule of law, security and economic development in Somalia.
