Thales Nederland - Surveillance Systems and Weapon Control and TargetingThales Nederland is a part of the international Thales group. The company develops, produces and installs active and passive naval sensor systems and combat management systems. Thales-NL also provides combat system integration (CSI) and life cycle support services. Our systems match the missions, tasks and weapon fit of any naval ship from small to large. We continuously update our naval systems, developing radars and processing equipment that world-wide set the standard for naval defence technology. Over 40 navies world-wide operate with Thales naval equipment and systems. See our website for more information. MULTIFUNCTION RADAR (MFR)Thales Nederland is the first company world-wide to develop, build and install a non-rotating Active Phased Array Radar. Recently, Thales-NL successfully tested during live firings the surveillance and fire control qualities of APAR on board of the new LCF frigate of the Royal Netherlands Navy "De Zeven Provinciën" and on board of the new F124 class frigate of the German Navy, the "Sachsen" during live firing trials. APAR is an I-band Active Phased Array Multifunction Radar, performing target detection, tracking and multiple missile control of NATO standard missiles ESSM and SM2. The four fixed faces cover 360°. SURVEILLANCE RADAR SYSTEMS The Thales-NL surveillance systems portfolio consists of many surveillance sensors for naval vessels and coastal applications. SMART-L is the long range radar in our 3D multi-beam radar family (D-band) providing 400km coverage and 70° elevation. It provides excellent performance, especially against stealthy targets. Together with its derivative, the S1850M, this system has become the de facto standard volume search radar of European NATO navies. SMART-S Mk2 is the latest 3D multi-beam radar (E/F band) for medium-to-long range surveillance (250km) and target indication, optimised for accurate operation in littoral environments. The radar matches the full performance of surface-to-air missiles such as ESSM. MRR 3D-NG is a G-band 3D scanning beam surveillance radar with an instrumented range of over 100km. VARIANT is a short-to-medium range 2D, dual-band (I- and G-band) radar for simultaneous air and surface surveillance and includes an integrated SCOUT radar and TWS channel for gun engagement. SCOUT Mk2 is an I-band FMCW Low Probability of Intercept (LPI) surface surveillance and navigation radar. SCOUT Mk2 is also available in a coastal radar version (fixed and mobile). SURICATE Mk2 is a long range coastal surveillance radar, particularly suited for EEZ surveillance. INFRARED SURVEILLANCE SYSTEMS IRSCAN is a passive, infrared search and track (IRST) system, capable of detecting and tracking air targets. With its single wavelength (8µm to 12µm) it supplies highly accurate target designation and a panoramic IR picture. SIRIUS provides continuous passive horizon search against sea-skimming missiles. It operates simultaneously in two wavelengths (3µm to 5µm and 8µm to 12µm) as a complementary sensor to radar. SIRIUS ensures an effective capability against all threats, especially under restricted EMCON circumstances. WEAPON CONTROL Thales-NL is renowned throughout the world for its highly accurate weapon control systems. Capabilities range from spot-on gun control to highly accurate missile guidance. STIR 180/240 is a (I and K-band) medium-to-long range tracking and illumination radar system. The system is designed primarily to control missile systems such as NATO SeaSparrow, ESSM and SM, and the direct control of various calibre guns. STING EO is a lightweight dual band (I and K) weapon control system, primarily for gun control, combining a 1.2m radar director with a full set of electro-optic tracking equipment (TV/IR/laser). LIROD Mk2 is a cost-effective lightweight radar/optronic system for gun control. It operates in K-band and includes an additional optronic sensor for passive tracking. MIRADOR is the latest compact optronic weapon control system. The stealthy sensor head houses various electro-optical sensors for TV surveillance and tracking, IR tracking and a LRF. CLOSE-IN WEAPON SYSTEM GOALKEEPER is still the most effective close-in weapon system available today, consisting of a search radar, a tracking radar and a 30mm Gatling gun with a firing rate of 4,200 rounds per minute.
