Dockwise - Heavy Transport Shipping and (De) Mobilization of Naval Craft and Equipment

Dockwise is a leading specialist in heavy transport shipping, operating the largest fleet of semi-submersible vessels that primarily service clients in the marine, naval, and oil and gas industries. Dockwise has developed innovative solutions to extend its services towards clients in the marine, navy and offshore industries.

The open-deck heavy transport vessels of the Dockwise fleet are not only suitable for the transportation of heavy cargo, but can also serve as a mobile dry-dock in remote areas of the world and / or subsequently transport damaged (salvaged) vessels.

Experience, innovative concept solutions and a team of highly skilled dedicated professionals enable Dockwise to meet complex ocean transportation requirements according to high quality and safety standards. Dockwise can offer a variety of solutions including the total marine scope for projects that seem inconceivable.

TRANSPORTATION FLEET FOR MILITARY MANOEUVRES

Military conflicts around the world time and again demonstrate the need for reliable sealift capability in the hotbed of strife. No nation possesses the full transportation capacity needed, so military command must be able to rely on the commercial market.

Dockwise has provided the link in demand for quick mobility of large and heavy military equipment. The multi-purpose Dockwise fleet has dealt with this unconventional and usually uncommon design cargo category on several occasions.

TRANSPORTATION AND (DE) MOBILIZATION OF NAVAL CRAFT AND EQUIPMENT

Utilization of a Dockwise vessel has allowed for minimization of (de) mobilization time of naval craft and equipment and has offered a solution to complex logistical problems. Navy forces of various countries recognize the fleet capabilities and have their frigates, mine sweepers, patrol boats and accommodation barges transported by Dockwise.

SALVAGE SUPPORT OPERATIONS

The Dockwise carriers have also been deployed for the safe repatriation of damaged craft. While en-route repairs and maintenance can be conducted in order to limit out-of-service time. The Dockwise vessels have a wide deck area and are fully equipped to serve as a mobile dry-dock with on-board workshop, accommodation facility and supply of (cooling) water and electricity.

On numerous occasions Dockwise has transported Kilo Class and other types of submarines for upgrade purposes.

In addition to transporting and drydocking (damaged) vessels, other applications can be conceived by Dockwise: utilization as a helicopter base and landing support vessel, an accommodation and hospital carrier or as a transportation unit for readily deployable waterfronts.

THE DOCKWISE ENGINEERING SOLUTIONS

Transportation of naval vessels requires extensive engineering, often due to the shape of keel and protruding parts. If necessary, the Dockwise vessels are specially adapted to ensure safe transportation of these valuable craft. For example, watertight deck recesses have been made to accommodate the protruding sonar dome, stabilisers, fins and rudders of several navy vessels carried.

Vessels are floated in over the carrier’s submerged deck and set on specially designed cradles. Anti-roll bars and side-blocks covered with rubber padding are tailored to the cargo’s shapes and curves.
