SAES participating at DX Korea 2016

SAES is participating at DX Korea 2016 (stand 8C-11) to promote their products and services in north-east Asia, a region where new solutions for protection and security of coasts have an increasing demand.

Specialist in Underwater Electronics SAES participates with a stand (8C-11) at the Defense Expo (DX) Korea, which is being held from 7-10 September in the KINTEX exhibition centre in Goyang city.

The Spanish-based company leader in underwater acoustics and electronics has arranged meetings with the country’s authorities involved in the naval submarine industry to provide the most advanced technology in multiple areas: sonar systems, anti-submarine warfare (ASW), sonobuoy processing, signature intelligence, multi-influence naval mines, maritime and coast security and simulation, among other services.

Anti-submarine warfare

For ASW, the sonobuoy acoustic processing systems (SPAS) family is capable of processing the most advanced analog and digital sonobuoys, is available for installation in surface vessels such as MPA and Helo and has aroused a great interest in the region.

"Also, we would like to promote our equipment for mission support and acoustic intelligence known as fast time analyser (FTAS), acoustic classification system (SICLA), tactical acoustic trainer (TAT) and simulators, as well as introduce one of the latest developments, the remote operation ASW system (ROASW)," said the company.

ROASW is a new ASW solution that provides a unique and fully integrated ship / air weapon system, initially designed to enhance and extend the ship acoustic sensors. The ROASW system receives, controls and monitors the acoustic and tactical information from deployed and ground resources.

Naval mines

For mine warfare, the company manufactures the multi-influence naval mines (MINEA). The MINEA family consist of different kinds of naval mines (moored, cylindrical bottom and shallow water mines) available in both combat and exercise versions. Moreover, SAES also provides Limpet Naval Mines that are equally at the forefront of the market in both combat and exercise versions.

Furthermore, the SAES knowledge in signature intelligence achieved during more than 25 years of experience lets them offer advanced systems to measurement of acoustic, magnetic, electrical, seismic and pressure influences coming from surface vessels and submarines, always adapting to the customer needs. Multi-influence range system (MIRS) and deep water acoustic range system (DEWARS) are two of their principal products in this area.

Sonar systems

The sonar products area will be specially promoted together to other systems designed to integrate into the combat systems of submarines and surface platforms such as as SICLA, the undersea acoustic performance prediction system (SEAPROF) and own noise monitoring system (ONMS).

Furthermore, in the sonar area but specifically indicated for the coast surveillance and protection, SAES also will expose the intruder detection sonar or diver detection sonar (DDS-03).

DDS-03 is a frequency active sonar specially designed for the detection of divers and underwater vehicles both manned and unmanned (SDV, ROV or UUV), and focused on improving the maritime surveillance systems since it can be integrated in any security system besides the stand alone function.

DDS-03 sonar constitutes the last generation of the SAES DDS sonars that have been successfully verified and validated in a wide variety of operational environments, such as deployment from vessels and in harbour, presence of closed and open circuit divers, presence of swimmers and tidal effect exposure.

SAES also provides advanced technology in other naval areas, including:

  • Maritime security: SAES develops systems to protect critical infrastructures such as ports, drilling platforms or wrecks and also for environmental protection.
  • Simulation and training: Tactical simulator for submarines. Sonar simulator / stimulator. Training systems for acoustic operators.
  • SAES services: Engineering services, verification and testing systems, maintenance, aftersales support, education and training.
