Based in the UK, our main research and manufacturing operation is located on a 25-acre site in East Yorkshire. With a 60,000m² trials lake and a floating calibration laboratory the site provides an extensive range of facilities supporting every aspect of acoustic transducer development from modelling and design to final product acceptance.

As an ISO9001 company, the 'on site' calibration facility ensures that all production transducers are supplied to a consistent and high quality standard using a monitored programme of free-field acoustic testing on a continuous basis.

CAPABILITIES

Neptune specialises in high performance, direct replacement transducers that enable the customer to upgrade and enhance the performance of existing sonar equipment. All replacement transducers are configured to be mechanically, electrically and acoustically interchangeable. Using the latest material technology they are also environmentally more robust and significantly less expensive than the original equipment transducers.

ACOUSTIC CALIBRATION SERVICE

Neptune operates an advanced free field acoustic calibration laboratory capable of accurately measuring the performance of individual transducers or complete sonar systems.

Equipped with the most technically advanced instrumentation and software, it enables accurate underwater measurements to be made on a wide range of acoustic equipment.

Available to hire, engineers and scientists will find the facility invaluable whether calibrating a single hydrophone or establishing the underwater performance of a complex sonar system. Located on a large fresh water lake, it is equipped to measure, transmit and receive sensitivity, beam patterns, complex impedance and phase.

The laboratory offers the following facilities:

• 60,000m² fresh water lake, 10m depth
• 17m x 10m raft platform, with 4.9m x 2.3m moon pool
• Direct access via 40m x 2m wide gangway
• Frequency range from below 1kHz to 1MHz
• A wide range of calibrated reference hydrophones and projectors
• All measurement certificates fully traceable to national standards
• Simulated depth, using submersible GRP acoustic pressure vessel
• Power supply - 20A, three-phase 50Hz
• Cranes and handling equipment, capable of deploying transducers up to 2,000kg
• Site security approved by the UK Ministry of Defence
