DSIT Solutions Ltd has revealed that it has successfully installed a second Diver Detection Sonar (DDS) at Naftoport Oil Terminal in Gdansk, Poland.

Naftoport tranships crude and refined oil products to Polish and German refineries, and the terminal is a crucial element in the petroleum supply chain.

Naftoport has been using DSIT’s AquaShield Underwater Security System for the past ten years. Naftoport’s critical infrastructure is located in the Baltic Sea and the first AquaShield DDS system was ordered by Naftoport in 2007 to protect it from underwater intrusion and sabotage.

Last year, following the oil terminal’s expansion and the building of an additional loading pier, Naftport decided to order a second AquaShield DDS unit to cover the added terminal area.

DSIT president Benny Sela commented: “DSIT delivered the project on time and on budget. We will continue to maintain Naftoport’s high level of satisfaction using a local Polish engineering company who will provide Naftoport with quick and efficient maintenance and support services.”

The two AquaShield DDS systems are integrated into one comprehensive command and control system, providing around-the-clock monitoring of all water approaches to the terminal. The system is fully automatic, including detection, tracking, classification, and alert features.
