14 February 2005 12:51
On January 31, 2005 a contract exceeding 30 Million EURO was awarded to ATLAS ELEKTRONIK for the upgrade of 5 Royal Swedish Navy Landsort Class MCM vessels with ATLAS Integrated Mine Counter Measure Systems IMCMS-S. The systems will be commissioned into operational service between 2008 and 2009.
The highly Integrated Mine Counter Measure System IMCMS-S complies with the most demanding MCM requirements ever called for in MCM applications. It combines Minehunting, Minesweeping, Mine Disposal, Surveillance and Communication with other naval forces. The system comprises a comprehensive ATLAS MCM Tactical Command and Control system with precise navigation functions, includes the latest generation of most powerful ATLAS Hullmounted Sonars, i.e. the broadband ATLAS HMS-12M and the successful ATLAS Mine Identification and Disposal System (MIDS) SEAFOX. IMCMS-S also includes all necessary functions for remote minehunting and sweeping.
IMCMS-S fully integrates further sensors and effectors like Self-propelled Variable Depth Sonar, Underwater Positioning System, Navigation Radar, Navigation Sensors, conventional MIDS systems, and Air Defence System. The system is prepared for easy integration of third party software like special naval application software packages as well as office type software. The contract also includes further options.
IMCMS-S for Landsort Class MCM vessels will be based on the IMCMS which is under contract for the upgrade of 10 Dutch Alkmaar and 6 Belgian Flower Class MCM vessels.
