MarineSoft - Maritime Training and Simulation Solutions

MarineSoft GmbH is an internationally operating provider of maritime software training and simulation solutions. MarineSoft has focussed its power, knowledge and experience offering state-of-the-art solutions in the fields of:

  • Maritime simulation of machinery plants
  • Computer based maritime training applications
  • Maritime information and operation systems
  • Consultancy and maritime courseware

PLATFORM-SPECIFIC SIMULATION BASED TRAINING

Platform specific simulation programs for simulation based training completely reflect the functionality and behaviour of their onboard counterparts. They run on COTS hardware and cover all operations and diagnostics procedures. There are no technical restrictions that must be considered within the training process and a higher number of trainees can pass the training at the same time. Briefing and debriefing is completely integrated into the training process.

The training concepts include instructor-guided training in the form of classroom training and Team Resource Management (TRM) training, Instructorless training is carried out as SPOT ON (Self Paced On Time On Need) training.

Original shipboard Monitoring and Control Systems (MCS) can be implemented into the simulation of the platform. This enables in particular a realistic training environment for both remote-controlled and manual operation. References for naval projects are:

  • Emulation of Patrol Vessel platform (PV) for Singaporian Navy
  • Emulation of Landing Ship Tank platform (LST) for Singaporian Navy
  • Engine simulation for F124 , German Navy
  • Engine simulation for Corvette K 130, German Navy
  • On board training system for Corvette Baynunah in co-operation with MTU for UAE Navy

MARITIME MACHINERY OPERATION SIMULATOR

Maritime machinery operation requires a great amount of onshore training, but employing the real machinery at training centres is very expensive. Maritime machinery operations simulators provide a cost effective solution, enabling trainees to train for normal machinery operation as well as simulated accident and emergency situations.

The MarineSoft machinery operation simulator is capable of training practical skills and reactive abilities according to IMO recommendations, STCW 95 convention and ISM code.

The machinery operation simulator has been designed as a software package with all essential operational systems divided in a basic version and a version with additional features. The machinery operation simulator covers procedures such as:

  • Normal operation training
  • Watchkeeping training
  • Trouble shooting and anti-accident training
  • Emergency procedures training

The MarineSoft machinery operation simulator enables both instructor-guided training and self-instruction. Modules are available for slow, medium and high-speed diesel engines.

Solutions for generic simulators cover the whole range of engine types like simulations for SSDE, MSDE ande HSDE.

SHIPBOARD SYSTEM SOFTWARE TRAINING MODULES

Shipboard system software training modules enable the user to reproduce a specific shipboard system:

  • Energy producers – main engine, boilers, electric power station, compressors
  • Supply systems – fuel / oil system, lubricating oil system, fresh water system, sea water system
  • Energy consumers – propulsion, HVAC, electric consumers, working air

MarineSoft fits these programme modules for the customer's specific machinery operation system to be simulated.

Simulator training packages cover all necessary configurations from single instructor stations up to fully equipped classroom configurations with realistic engine control room panels and switchboards. The upgrade option to a full mission simulator includes the future option of using virtual engine room components based on High Level Architecture (HLA).

MARINE LANGUAGE AND SMCP TRAINING

Based on realistic scenarios of ship navigation and operation, the marine language and SMCP (Standard Marine Communication Phrases) training system offers different interactive training activities subdivided by training of communication, basic language and special skills like the underlying principles of the SMCPs.

The trainee's progress throughout the learning courses is stored in a SMCP database and can be evaluated immediately by a trainer. The training system contains tools, which help the trainee to obtain necessary information to utilise the needed phrases and scenarios - through the following training phases:

  • Basic drill
  • Application training
  • Content training
  • Assessment

The full course pack consists of initial assessment tests, the basic drill of the standard phrases, multimedia scenarios and exercises for the training of special content.

The training concept can be used in particular to refresh or study maritime English, for the training of standard maritime vocabulary, pronunciation and the drill of specific grammar and content topics. A sophisticated skill of maritime English is an essential precondition for the right comprehension of tasks and instructions for other training forms like GMDSS or simulation based engine training.
