Scandinavian Micro Systems to Install the New Scandisplay® System on Hurtigruten's New Ship Ms Fram.

Scandinavian Micro Systems (SMS) today announced the installation of their new ScanDisplay system on board Hurtigruten's new ship MS Fram, which will set sail on her maiden journey to Greenland in May, 2007.
"We feel very honored to be selected to supply the guest information system on a ship that was named after Norwegian polar explorer Fridtjof Nansen's ship, Fram," explained Oddbjorn Steinsland, president and CEO of SMS. "The unique explorer cruises offered by Hurtigruten are ideal for the SMS ScanDisplay system, because we can custom-produce educational information wherever the MS Fram travels."
In September the MS Fram will embark on a 66-day cruise from Iceland to Argentina with polar circle excursions. "This is a monumental task to have all the route-tracking maps in place for this cruise before the ship sets sail," Steinsland reported. "We have our work cut out for us but the SMS team is excited about this challenge."
Each ScanDisplay® system has a host of features to keep passengers informed during their cruise. This information is available in four languages: English, Spanish, French and German. Features include the ship's position, route-tracking maps with five levels of view, estimated time of departure, estimated time of arrival, current weather conditions, up-to-date reports from the bridge, port of call and points of interest information, and more.
