MKU is one of the largest manufacturer and supplier of armored solutions for the defense sector, globally. It specializes in providing customized solutions in anti-ballistic solutions to its customers spread across more than 60 countries.

Armour solutions

MKU is able to offer a wide range of ballistic protection solutions for naval vessels, certified independently as effective against a wide range of current threats including fragments from anti-ship missiles, armour piercing rounds from aircraft cannon, small arms rounds and explosive blasts. MKU offers customised solutions to meet most threat scenarios.

Specific parts of a naval vessel are most vulnerable to the ballistic threat. These include:

• Missile launch silos
• Ammunition storage compartments
• Command and information Centres (CIC)
• Bridges
• External weapon positions
• Helicopter hangars

MKU understands the challenge of integrating ballistic protection into all parts of a naval vessel, matching the complex contours of the vessel's shape and utilizing effectively all the available space. Such ballistic protection can be integrated during vessel construction or added later, depending upon the customer's requirements. MKU is fully equipped for either approach.

Certification

MKU is a AS 9100 & ISO 9001:2008 certified company and follows NATO AQAP quality procedures. It is certified as a NATO supplier (NATO CAGE Code SDS57 & C5175) and as a supplier to the German Defence Technology and Procurement Department.

Documentation

MKU's armour solutions are supported by detailed technical documentation, including installation, maintenance and repair manuals and illustrated parts catalogues in accordance with the standards prescribed by the End User Naval Authorities.

Logistic and after sales support

MKU understands the importance of integrated logistic support, and treats it as an essential part of the long term relationship with the customer. Using RFID trace technology, an after sales support team monitors the products from our factories to the customer and thence to the end user, ensuring that expectations are exceeded and true through-life support is achieved.

MKU's production capability

With research and development centres and manufacturing facilities in Germany and India, MKU has over 18,500 m² (2,00,000 sq. ft.) of factory space and employs over 850 people. An integral design house, Multi-Daylight Presses in various sizes, including a 1.2 m x 2.4 m (4' x 8') panel press, precision water jet cutters and an in-house ballistic testing range enable MKU to deliver high quality products quickly and in large amounts.

MKU has over 10 years experience in naval armouring and has armoured more than 5,000 m² (53819 sq. ft.) of ship and boat structures. Its recently upgraded facilities provide an annual capacity of producing more than 5,000 m² (53819 sq. ft.) of ballistic panels.
