AST Security Equipment (AST), and Yachtwerft Meyer, Bremen, Present Interior Wall Panels for Yachts with Integrated Ballistic Protection

14 February 2007

Weapons used by land-based criminals and small-scale pirates form the threat scenario for small private yachts and tender boats in typical marina environments. Owners expect protection for their fuel tanks, engines and navigational equipment, as well as personal protection for the accommodation areas of their boats.

Ballistic protection against splinters and projectiles integrated into mass-produced wall panels is a cost-effective solution in the series design of fibreglass or aluminium boats. Personal protection equipment, such as ballistic protection vests, goggles, visors and body shields, can be added to these fixed protection solutions.

AST and Yachtwerft Meyer, Bremen, have cooperated with Fibretech Composites of Bremen to patent and produce such panels under the trade name of PROTECORE.

The partners are now ready to implement such protection solutions in cooperation with any yacht builder in other global markets.
