Resilence Practice Leaders

Caroline Field has joined MMI Engineering (MMI) as a Resilience Practice leader.

Caroline joins MMI from BuroHappold Engineering, where she managed the Risk and Resilience team and held a successful track record in implementing resilience strategies to protect against natural and manmade hazards and stresses such as climate change, urbanisation and globalisation.

She brings over 20 years of professional experience, including over 15 years specialising in the field of structural resilience to extreme events, 12 of which were based in the United States.

She is chartered with the ICE, is a licensed Professional Engineer in California, US, a Member of ASCE, and a Member of the Register of Security Engineers and Specialists (RSES).

She is currently deputy chair of the BSI’s city resilience standard publication and co-chair of the ASCE IRD SPEED committee focusing on community resilience.

In her role at MMI, Caroline will be focusing on organisational and asset resilience. Her innovative, comprehensive approach to resilience balances physical mitigations with adaptive capacity, considers shocks and stresses, and incorporates future trends analysis to help clients thrive in the face of change and disruption.

Joining MMI alongside Caroline is Richard Look. With 16 years heavily invested in developing a solid grounding in the concepts and applications of resilience, Richard has spent the last two years working with Caroline at BuroHappold, developing a robust resilience approach for a range of complex systems.

MMI managing director John Evans said: "The world continues to present us with increasingly complex threats and we can provide support to ensure our clients maintain a level of resilience.

"Both Caroline and Richard will bring valuable experience to MMI, and I am confident that the synergies between their practice area and our existing competencies will enable us to successfully build upon an integrated approach to resilience and risk management."

Speaking about her appointment, Caroline said: "I am very much looking forward to integrating our resilience consulting services with MMI’s technical consultancy skills to assist our clients in managing their business and assets in the face of future change and challenges."
