Innovative Concepts, Inc. Achieves CMMI Maturity Level III rating for Software Engineering Processes

Innovative Concepts is assessed against the Software Engineering Institute’s (SEI) Capability Maturity Model® Integration, Version 1.1 for Software Engineering (Staged Representation) and successfully achieves a Maturity Level III Rating.
McLean, VA – December 15, 2003 - Innovative Concepts’ McLean, VA facility has reached an exceptional level of achievement in the area of software engineering integration and improvement processes as established by the Software Engineering Institute (SEI). The SEI appraisal, known as Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI), is an industry-recognized framework for process integration and improvement. This newly achieved rating comes after just six months of receiving ISO 9001:2000. It is estimated that only twenty to twenty five organizations in the world hold both of these ratings, a true indication that Innovative Concepts is committed to continuously strengthening its engineering practices.

SEI is a federally funded research and development center sponsored by the US Department of Defense and operated by Carnegie Mellon University. There are five levels of CMMISM maturity, with the higher maturity levels indicating a lower risk due to the better practices employed by the organization. The SEI continues to advocate the adoption of CMMI models as the best process improvement models available for product and service development and maintenance.
The CMMISM credential demonstrates that Innovative Concepts’ software engineering services focus on applying systematic, disciplined, and quantifiable approaches to the development, operation, and maintenance of software. Level III maturity means that Innovative Concepts’ standard processes are used to establish consistency across the organization. Projects establish their defined processes by tailoring the organization’s set of standard processes according to tailoring guidelines. The organization’s management establishes process objectives based on the organization’s set of standard processes and ensures that these objectives are appropriately addressed.
