Lidan Marine - Winch Systems, Towed Body and ROV Handling SystemsLidan Marine is a world-leading supplier of naval and marine handling and winch systems, specializing in TAS and VDS winches as well as ROV launch and recovery systems. Lidan Marine, founded in 1909, has focused on meeting the demand for light weight compact and shock proof winch and handling systems suited for the new line of multi-purpose stealth combat ships. Lidan has a history of working with the majority of the international defence system integrators. The company has been awarded major projects in the Visby class corvette program. Lidan Marine has also been selected to supply equipment to the Lockheed Martin Corporation's LCS corvettes. The corvette will be the first of the Littoral Combat Ships to be supplied to the US Navy. SONAR WINCH SYSTEMSLidan Marine supply Towed Array Sonar (TAS) winch systems and heave compensated Variable Depth Active Sonar (VDS) winch systems, as well as winch systems with a combination of TAS and VDS. The designs meet required MIL STDs and are based on stainless and high-tensile steel giving a minimal magnetic signature. General winch systems can also be provided, such as recovery winch systems for RIB boats. Both hydraulic and electric solutions are available and Lidan also supply turnkey winch solutions, including control and power units. TOWED ARRAY SONAR WINCH SYSTEMSLidan Marine provided the towed array sonar winch for the Visby class corvette, optimising the winch for low-weight and shock resistance. The Visby towed array sonar winch is made from high-tensile steel and the hydraulic level winder is controlled by the handling system PLC. Lidan also supplied the winch, hydraulic power unit and local operators panel for the GBG class corvettes. VARIABLE DEPTH ACTIVE SONAR WINCH SYSTEMSLidan supplied the VDS winch system for the Visby class corvette, as well as the VDS handling frame, VDS stow frame and VDS winch. The VDS winch system was designed to the same criteria as the TAS winch system. It also performs the active motion compensation for the VDS body, controlled from the system PLC. The VDS handling frame, for launch, recovery and towing operations, handles the cable sheave and saddle for the VDS body. This handling frame was made from high-tensile steel with a stainless-steel section for reduced magnetic signature. The VDS stow frame, designed for stowing the VDS body, also serves as part of the shock-protection systems for the VDS body. ROV AND TOWED BODY HANDLING SYSTEMSLidan Marine also apply their creative thinking, design resources, skills and experience to the design and manufacture of handling systems for ROVs and towed bodies. These include Launch and Recovery Systems (LARS) for ROV-E and ROV-S, including emergency recovery systems; LARS for towed bodies, including A-frames and stowing cradles and systems for the loading and stowing of missiles, mines and ROVs. The ROV and towed body handling systems are lightweight and normally constructed for stainless steel. They feature a simple man-machine interface and full monitoring during operation. Rescue systems for man-over-board, as well as recovery and rescue of divers (personnel) are also available, based on motion compensated cranes. HYDRAULIC POWER UNITSLidan Marine can design and manufacture custom hydraulic power units. They supplied the hydraulic power unit for the Visby class corvette, including hydraulic pumps and valves for the entire handling system. This hydraulic power system was specially designed for minimum sound radiation to meet the stealth specifications of the project.
