Air Contamination Control Device

07 May 2002

Astrium delivers the Air Contamination Control Device also for the new Italian U212A submarine. The air contamination and particle control feature of the unit is based on the LiOH technology for CO2 control and a special type of activated charcoal for contamination control. The particles and aerosols are filtered with a type of surface filter at a very low pressure loss.

LiOH and activated charcoal are contained in identical and reusable cartridges which are installed in the Air Contamination Control Device. Thus a high flexibility regarding the type and installed amount of absorbent inside the Air Contamination Control Device is available during the mission.

The effectivity is independent of humidity and temperature levels even at low contaminant levels.
