In 2005 Oxley Group Australia was awarded a contract by Incat Australia Pty Ltd to design and supply a lighting system for the helicopter deck on board the US Military high speed vessel HSV X1 Joint Venture. The system has since been proven by the end user in extensive helicopter night landing trials.

The Lighting System, using the latest Oxley LED technology and components, was produced in Australia jointly with BAE Systems who applied the technology and transferred to their Holden Hill facility in South Australia as a result of a Defence Industry Recognition Scheme (DIIREC) Deed negotiated with the Australian Department of Defence.

The installation on HSV X1 Joint Venture was completed, from concept through to commissioning, in conjunction with Incat within the challenging programme timescale. It involved the design of a complete flight deck lighting suite as well as the Helicopter Control Station.

In addition to excellent LED lighting characteristics, the system demonstrates considerable savings of weight and reduced power consumption. These advantages together with the increased reliability of this innovative technology demonstrates the superior characteristics of Oxley lighting systems for Naval applications.
