Siemens - Integrated Platform Management, Power Management and Power Distribution Systems

As a comprehensive industry-specific solution for naval vessels, the SINAVYCIS product family integrates all the products needed for sustained maximisation of naval vessel's performance over the whole life cycle, including the plant products SINAVY SUVS for surface vessels (like: destroyers, frigates, corvettes, OPVs, multi-role vessels, mine warfare vessels) and SINAVY SUB for submarines.

For more than 125 years Siemens has been recognized as a world leader in the development of marine solutions that increase shipboard productivity and add value to our customer's operations.

Siemens Marine Solutions has the expertise to operate as systems integrator or general contractor for the co-ordination of all electrical and electronic equipment onboard in accordance with internationally recognised military standards as well as commercial classification societies’ rules and regulations.

Budget restrictions, changing tactical requirements and a wide range of deployment areas are the distinguishing factors of today. Siemens Marine solution adapts perfectly to the changing world by consolidating their capabilities and offering innovative products for improved availability, reliability and stability.

Our extensive know-how in all fields of power generation, conversion and distribution, drives and automation is used to full effect onboard a large number of surface vessels and submarines of the German Navy, NATO forces and other friendly overseas navies.

SINAVYCIS - COMPLETELY INTEGRATED SOLUTIONS FOR THE NAVY

Our scope of supplies and services includes:

  • Engineering and systems integration
  • Power generation and conversion
  • Power distribution
  • Integrated platform management system
  • Communication
  • Propulsion solutions
  • Installation and commissioning
  • Quality management
  • Integrated logistic support
  • Life cycle management

Some of our innovative products are described in detail as follows:

INTEGRATED PLATFORM MANAGEMENT SYSTEM - SINAVYCIS IPMS

Thanks to its intelligent architecture, our Integrated Platform Management System SINAVYCIS IPMS, ensures the highest degree of availability and operational reliability onboard naval vessels under all operating conditions. At the same time, the system relieves the crew of time-consuming routine tasks, enabling them to devote more time to their core duties. Rapid information exchange at all levels is not only a requirement in case of emergency but is also a necessity for the ship’s processes to run smoothly.

The system basically covers:

  • Propulsion system
  • Power generation and distribution system (power management system)
  • Ship services
  • Battle damage control management

ELECTRIC PROPULSIONS SYSTEMS - SINAVYCIS DRIVE MV

Customised concepts tailored to technical and budgetary requirements and built on a long experience are provided for high efficiency, compact design, reliability and minimised signatures.

Siemens is focusing on future development in the areas of innovative concepts for ship propulsion and compact high-powered electrical machines based on High-Temperature Superconductor technology (HTS). This results in particularly positive attributes for naval applications such as reduction of volume, weight and losses, increased power density and efficiency, enhanced overload capability and less noise and vibration.

AIR INDEPENDENT PROPULSION FOR SUBMARINES WITH SINAVYCIS FUEL CELL

To meet the requirements of modern submarines for considerably extended submerged endurance and significantly low signatures, Siemens contributes with special applications such as the primary power supply with advanced SINAVYCIS fuel cell technology as the basis of Air Independent Propulsion (AIP) as implemented onboard the latest German submarine generations class 212 and 214. The robust and low maintenance PEM fuel cell creates zero noise, water and, in addition to electricity, only a little heat.

SUBMARINE PROPULSION SYSTEM SINAVYCIS PERMASYN

Because of its compact design the permanent excited propulsion system SINAVYCIS Permasyn is smaller and lighter than conventional DC drives and is significantly more efficient, thanks to reliable high-performance electronics. Redundant system elements ensure high availability. Low structure borne and airborne noise levels help to reduce the acoustic signature of the submarine. The engine has impressively low electrical and magnetic signatures.
