POLARIS FOG-100

The first outcome developed by the Photonic Laboratory has been the strap-down Gyrocompass based on state-of-art Fiber Optic Gyroscope technology. It offers a highly reliable and cost effective solutions for Vessels, Fast Patrol Boats, and Submarines. It gives an accurate, real-time reading of true north as well as control of attitude without GPS aiding.

RADAR

GEM elettronica radar production covers a wide range of applications from the smallest for Fast Patrol Vessels up to the biggest for Coastal Surveillance. The long-term experience in this field has allowed GEM elettronica to develop advanced radar as compact version of Frequency Diversity 25Kw, Frequency Diversity 50Kw, LPI (Low Probability of Interception). GEM offers also a wide range of antenna, from 4 feet up to 19feet in either horizontal or vertical or triple polarization, and the 21 feet horizontal polarization.

NAVIGATION SENSORS AND INTEGRATED BRIDGES

The company has been specialized in customized Integrated Bridge Systems for FPV (Fast Patrol Vessels). Thanks to its experience acquired in the years GEM Elettronica is able to provide complete, cost-effective solution, making not only Radar Sensors, but also Mechanical Gyrocompass, Optronic Systems, and GPS receivers.

FCS

Each system includes EO director, IR and daylight camera, range finder, computer, video tracker, interface, etc. GEM provides its own laser range finder as well as own video tracker.

ECDIS AND WECDIS

Our Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS) is approved by DNV in compliance with the International Hydrographic Organisations (IHO), the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) and the International Electro-technical Commission (IEC). It displays S-57/DX-90 cartography on a high-resolution colour LCD screen and can overlay radar video from ARPA radar Systems. It comes in two main configurations: stand-alone or embedded for inclusion in Integrated Bridges.

The software evolution of the ECDIS has brought GEM elettronica to develop the WECDIS – Warship Electronic Chart Display and Information System with Advanced Route Planning, Additional Military Layers, Pool of Errors, Security System, and so forth.

COMMAND, CONTROL, COMMUNICATIONS, COMPUTERS, AND INTELLIGENCE (C4I) CONSOLES

Our generation Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (C4I) consoles are based on VME or PCI bus and run UNIX or Windows operative systems. They have been developed and produced for major ships such as corvettes, frigates, and destroyers.

VTMIS AND COASTAL SURVEILLANCE SYSTEMS

Today, GEM Elettronica is one of the biggest worldwide suppliers of sensors and turn-key system for VTMIS and Coastal Surveillance applications. In fact, it offers a wide range of radars as frequency diversity 25+25Kw and 50+50Kw, 12, 19, 21 antennas as well as software, optronic, server, and more also produced.
