Imtech Wins Contract for IPMS Systems for Hellenic Navy
15 January 2004 11:17
Rotterdam – IMTECH has recently been selected to provide the Integrated Platform Management Systems for the Mid-Life Modernisation of six “Combattante III” Class Fast Attack Crafts of the Hellenic Navy.
A total of 9 "Laskos Combattante III Class" Fast Attack Crafts have been commissioned around the 1980s. The Hellenic Navy has the intention to upgrade six of those in the next couple of years at Elefsis Shipyards. The Mid-Life Modernisation of those ships will bring them in line with the new SuperVita 62m Roussen-class FACs. Vessel figures include a displacement of 359t, an overall length of 56m, maximum speed of 32.5 knots, and a crew of 42.
Imtech’s proven Integrated Platform Management System (IPMS) technology will be used by the Hellenic Navy to monitor and control all platform machinery, including propulsion, electrical power, damage control and auxiliary systems. The IPMS also provides advanced automation for enhanced operational effectiveness and survivability of the ship including the Fire Fighting & Damage Control functionality (FFDC).
Next to the Mid-Life Modernisation of the six “Combattante III” Class Fast Attack Crafts, the Hellenic Navy has set up a modernisation program for 6+2 “Elli Class” S-Frigates, where Imtech has been selected to install the complete Platform Management System, Propulsion Control System, Power Management System, FFDC System and the Galley and Laundry.
The selection of IMTECH Marine & Offshore for this contract with Elefsis Shipyards follows several recent naval sales successes for IMTECH. To date, the IMTECH Marine & Offshore division has supplied advanced electrical, automation, HVAC, and electrical propulsion systems for over 150 ships with 17 navies and for over 600 commercial ships world-wide. Recent successes include the 4 UK Royal Navy ALSL vessels, Integrated Platform Management Systems for the first Gawron Class Polish Corvette and the second LPD for the Royal Netherlands Navy, which amongst others includes a highly advanced electrical pod propulsion system.
