Barco Forming New US Company to Meet Demands of Government and Military Customers

30 November 2005 11:08

Imaging company Barco announced that it is responding to the growing demand for Barco resources in classified programs for US government and military customers by establishing a wholly owned US company named Barco Federal Systems Corporation (BFS).

BFS will be headquartered in Duluth, GA, where Barco has a major research and development, manufacturing and service facility. “The formation of BFS is a major step for Barco and for our US customers, because it signifies our commitment to providing the highest level of technology and expertise in even more programs than we do now,” says Dave Scott, president of Barco North America. "The corporate infrastructure to support the new company is being developed in cooperation with the US Department of Security Services".

Barco has extensive experience in supplying technology for many government and military programs through its business divisions. BFS will allow the company to respond in more areas and more quickly meet the stringent demands of this market. BFS will have a US-based board of directors and management team, with autonomous control and influence over BFS. BFS will continue to enjoy financial strength and stability through an ongoing financial relationship with Barco.

Barco expects that BFS will be operational by 1 March 2006. Development of the company infrastructure has already begun and the existing Barco facility in Duluth will be modified to create a separate, controlled access area for BFS.
